Chines Drywall is one of the largest issues facing residents and businesses in the Southeast U.S. Many people have heard the term Chinese Drywall, but not all know the symptoms.

Chinese Drywall can manifest itself in your home or business in a number of different ways. The most destructive is in regards to the HVAC system. Chinese Drywall contains material that creates sulphuric acid in the air in your home or business which can produce a rotten egg smell. This sulphur dioxide corrodes metal, mainly copper. This begins to affect the Coils of the HVAC unit. Over time the coils of the HVAC will corrode and have to be replaced. So the first warning sign is if you have had to replace the HVAC in your home or business for no apparent reason. Some customers have reported having to change the HVAC four times in two years. Any Other copper materials in the building are also at risk. One of the easiest ways to see the corrosion is by looking at decorative items such as picture frames that contain copper. If there are corrosive materials present, like those found in Chinese Drywall, then the copper and metallic parts of the items will begin to turn black. Other affects of the drywall can range from appliance malfunction to wall sockets and switches going out often. It is rare to find one such as the one pictured aboove that actually says "Made in China" on the back, and since not all chinese manufacturers have been linked to the contaminents it is impossible to verify without a sample if you have the contaminents in your home or office.
